EFT Tapping for School Teachers: A Simple Self-Care Tool for Stress Relief

Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, but it can also be incredibly stressful. Long hours, high expectations, and managing students' needs can leave teachers feeling overwhelmed. Fortunately, there’s a simple, effective, and evidence-based technique that can help: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or Tapping.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT Tapping combines gentle acupressure with mindful self-reflection to reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. By tapping on specific energy points on the body while acknowledging emotions, teachers can calm their nervous system, restore balance, and build resilience

WHY Teachers Should Try Tapping

Reduces daily stress and anxiety

Helps manage burnout and emotional fatigue

Increases focus and mental clarity

Supports emotional well-being

Quick and easy to do—anytime, anywhere

How to Get Started

Step 1: Identify the Stressor Think about a specific challenge or stressful situation.

This could be:

Feeling overwhelmed by workload

Struggling with a difficult student

Anxiety about classroom management

Self-doubt or frustration

Step 2: Rate Your Stress Level On a scale of 1-10 (1 = minimal stress, 10 = extreme distress), how intense does the issue feel?

Step 3: Create a Set-Up Statement Acknowledge the stress while affirming self-acceptance. Example:

“Even though I feel overwhelmed by my workload, I deeply accept myself.”

“Even though I’m frustrated with classroom challenges, I choose to find calm.”

Step 4: Start Tapping Using two or more fingers, tap gently 5-7 times on the following points while repeating your set-up statement:

Karate Chop (KC) – Side of the hand

Eyebrow (EB) – Inner eyebrow

Side of Eye (SE) – Outer eye

Under Eye (UE) – Below the eye

Under Nose (UN) – Above the upper lip

Chin (CP) – Below the lower lip

Collarbone (CB) – Just below the collarbone

Under Arm (UA) – Side of the ribcage

Top of Head (TH) – Crown of the head

Step 5: Breathe and Reassess Take a deep breath and check in. Has your stress level decreased? Repeat the process as needed until you feel calmer.

The Science Behind EFT

EFT helps regulate the amygdala, the part of the brain that processes fear and stress. Tapping sends calming signals to the nervous system, reducing cortisol (the stress hormone) and allowing the body to shift from fight-or-flight mode into a relaxed state. Research shows that EFT is effective for reducing anxiety, improving focus, and even lowering blood pressure.

A Quick and Easy Self-Care Tool

Teachers give so much to their students—it's essential to take moments to recharge. EFT Tapping is a simple, fast, and powerful way to reset the mind and body in just a few minutes. Try it before class, during breaks, or whenever stress builds up.

Take a deep breath, tap, and restore your inner balance—because you deserve it.
